COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland announced the Feb. 5 sentencing of Charles Mosley in the homicide of 15-year-old Nicole Angstadt in Rio Grande.
On Dec. 14, 2015, the body of Angstadt was discovered in a vacant residence on Vermont Avenue in Rio Grande. A subsequent investigation conducted by detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Middle Township Police Department and Lower Township Police Department resulted in charges being filed against Mosley on Dec. 14, 2015 for sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Mosley was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
On Feb. 18, 2016, Mosley was charged with first degree murder and numerous other charges.
On June 28, 2016, Mosley was indicted on those charges in Cape May County Superior Court.
On Dec. 19, 2017, Mosley pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and admitted to killing Angstadt.
Mosley was sentenced Feb. 5 by Judge John Porto, of the Cape May County Superior Court, to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison and is subject to the No Early Release Act, which requires Mosley serve 85 percent of the sentence before he can be released.
Sutherland recognized the in-depth investigative work conducted by detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Middle Township Police Department, and Lower Township Police Department, along with First Assistant Prosecutor Robert Johnson, which resulted in Mosley’s state prison sentence.
