Middle Township Police Charge Man with Threatening to Kill His Wife

On Monday September 6, at 12:56 AM, Middle Township Police received a call from a resident of 3 Jerome Drive stating that a Steve Schwalenberg (also a resident of 3 Jerome Drive) was in the front yard in possession of a firearm, and threatening to kill his wife. His wife who also resides at 3 Jerome Drive, however she was not home at the time.
Prior to police arrival, Schwalenberg left the scene in a white Honda CRV. Moments later Schwalenberg was stopped in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township, and arrested without incident. A .22 cal handgun was found on the front passenger seat of the vehicle and was loaded.
Schwalenberg was charged with multiple weapons offenses as well as terroristic threats.
As a result of the charges Schwalenberg was lodged in the Cape May County Jail, in lieu of $100,000.00 full cash bail.
This case is being investigated by Ptlm. D’Alonzo and Det. Stocker.
