COURT HOUSE– On June 15, off duty Middle Township Police officer Sharon Price observed what she believed to be an intoxicated driver in the Acme Plaza Shopping center in Cape May Court House. She quickly called the incident in to police headquarters and was able to get the keys away from the driver who attempted to leave the scene.
Cpl. Fiore was the first to arrive on scene. Ptl. Matt Martino and Ptl. Armondo Jones had completed their tour but responded to assist Ptl. Price. Sgt. Pat Conte who was also on scene arrested the driver, Matthew Condon, age 51 of Dennis Twp. for DWI.
Condon was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and tested. Condon’s BAC was .33%, which is over four times the legal limit of .08% BAC.
Condon was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for observation because of his extremely high Blood Alcohol Concentration. He was later released to a friend.
Condon was charged with DWI, Failure to produce vehicle registration, Failure to produce vehicle insurance and Careless driving.
