COURT HOUSE- A local resident of Middle Township, was arrested during the execution of a search warrant in the Cape May Court House section of Middle Township.
The arrest is the result of a cooperative effort by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force, Middle Township Police Department Special Services Unit and Cape May County Sheriff’s Office.
On August 16, members of the Cape May County Sheriffs Office Warrants Unit attempted to serve an FTA warrant for a resident believed to reside at the residence of 405 South Boyd Street in Cape May Court House, when officers observed marijuana plants outside the residence. As a result of their observations, a search warrant was granted to search the residence of 405 South Boyd Street. Members of the Sheriffs Office were assisted by the Cape May County Prosecutors’ Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task force and Middle Township Police Department Special Services Unit. As a result of the execution of a court authorized search warrant at 405 South Boyd Street, 21 marijuana plants and under 50 grams of marijuana were seized, along with $2,401 in US currency.
As a result of the investigation, Gregory Hall, 29, was charged with the following and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 full cash bail:
Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, a second degree crime.
Possession of marijuana under 50 grams, a disorderly offense.
Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute with 1000 feet of a school zone, a crime of the third degree.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a second degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison: persons convicted of a third degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison. Prosecutor Taylor commended the Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force, Middle Township Police Department and Cape May County Sheriff’s Office for their combined efforts in this investigation.
