Middle Police Make Arson Arrest

COURT HOUSE — On May 10, Middle Township police responded to a report of several fires burning in the wooded area located behind the ACME Plaza.
Upon arrival, police located an individual in close proximity to the fires. There were a total of six (6) fires, which were ultimately extinguished.
An investigation conducted by Middle Township police, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service determined the individual, identified as Carl Peterson, 54, of Court House, was responsible for setting the fires. Peterson was charged with aggravated arson and lodged in the county jail on $25,000 full cash bail.
Police reported no injuries as a result of the fires.
