COURT HOUSE – Frederick Gene Marr, 75, was sentenced to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison, for the Aug. 11, 2010 shooting death of 50-year-old Ronald Denny Sr., Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor announced Nov. 14.
Denny was found shot and killed in the driveway of his 10th Street home in the Del Haven section of Middle Township.
On Aug. 12, 2010, Marr was arrested in Volusia County Florida on terroristic threat charges and was wanted for questioning in Denny’s death. The homicide investigation and subsequent extradition of Marr was led by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office with the assistance of the Middle Township Police Department, U.S. Marshal’s Service and numerous Florida law enforcement agencies. On Aug. 16, 2010 Marr was charged with Denny’s murder and held on $1,000,000 bail until trial.
On Sept. 30, 2014, as the result of a jury trial, Marr was found guilty on the following four counts; murder, a first degree crime; unlawful possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a second degree crime; unlawful possession of weapon/handgun, a second degree crime; and hindering prosecution, a third degree crime.
Prosecutor Taylor would like to recognize and thank all of the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation, apprehension and prosecution of Frederick Marr.
