Man Convicted in $1 Million Construction Scheme

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE — Troy Blevin, 49, of Somers Point, was found guilty by a Cape May County jury of Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition. The jury reached its verdict April 25, after a three week trial, said Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor.
According to Taylor, in August, 2010 detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office White Collar Crime Unit initiated an investigation into allegations that Blevin, doing business as Bamcoe Construction, secured payments of over $1 million related to his role as project manager for a construction project that never came to fruition. The investigation revealed Blevin concocted an elaborate scheme to thwart detection of the crime.
Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition is a crime of the second degree. Persons convicted of second degree crimes are subject to incarceration in New Jersey State Prison of between five and 10 years.
Taylor commended the detectives’ and assistant prosecutors’ hard work and diligence in the complicated investigation.
