WILDWOOD – Wildwood Police Department Uniform and Detective Divisions responded to the 4200 block of Pacific Avenue in connection to a reported robbery of a business Nov. 17 at approximately 8 a.m.
During the preliminary on-scene investigation, the store assistant manager provided detailed, relevant information pertaining to the incident and a description of the individual responsible for the robbery. During the robbery, an undisclosed amount of money was removed as proceeds of the robbery.
During the initial investigation, members of the uniform patrol division and detective divisions set up a grid search in the immediate vicinity of the incident location, however were unsuccessful in locating the individual responsible for the robbery.
On Nov. 19 at approximately 2 p.m., members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division detained an individual identified as Thomas Oliva, 23, currently residing in the City of Wildwood in connection to the robbery. During the developing investigation, Oliva was identified as the individual responsible for the robbery. Additional physical evidence was recovered during the investigation connecting Oliva to the robbery.
Oliva was charged with robbery, crime of the second degree. Judge Dorothy Garrabrant of the Wildwood Municiapl Court authorized bail at $200,000, no ten percent all charges. Oliva was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Cape May County Correctional Center.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
