VILLAS – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana announce the arrest of Edgardo J. Torrado, 31, of Villas, for the distribution of heroin.
Torrado was arrested on July 19 during the execution of court authorized search warrants at his residence on Virginia Avenue in Villas, and a vehicle belonging to Torrado. Seized during this investigation were 560 bags of suspected heroin. This warrant was a result of an investigation regarding the distribution of heroin from the property.
As a result of this investigation, Torrado was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS), third degree, possession with intent to distribute CDS, third degree, and possession with intent to distribute CDS within 500 feet of a public place, second degree.
Torrado was processed and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center pending court proceedings.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a second degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of five to 10 years in state prison, and a third degree crime can carry a sentence of three to five years in state prison.
This arrest was the conclusion of a cooperative investigation between the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and the Lower Township Police Department Detective Division.
Prosecutor Taylor stated that his office will continue to work hand in hand with the local municipalities to target anyone selling illegal CDS.

The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
