Man Charged with Child Endangerment, Assault

ERMA – The mother of an eight year-old child, brought her child to the Lower Township Police Department Wednesday March 24 and advised officers that her child had been assaulted by her ex-husband.
Officers noticed obvious signs of injuries to the child and an investigation was initiated by the Lower Township Detective Division and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
Following that investigation, an arrest warrant was prepared for the suspect in the incident, a Shawn Boyle, 30, of the 100 block of East New York Avenue, in Villas. Boyle was arrested and transported to Lower Township Police Department for processing on a $25,000 blanket warrant set by Municipal Court Judge George Neidig for: one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, being a 2nd Degree Crime and one count of Simple Assault, being a disorderly person’s offense, along with a no contact order.
Boyle was subsequently lodged in the Cape May County jail on those charges.
Boyle was arrested by Lower Township Police Department in September of 2009 on a previous Child Endangerment charge and was currently assigned to the Pre-Trial Intervention Program for the September arrest.
The incident was investigated by Patrol Officer Eric Coombs, Detective Art Mason and members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
