NORTH WILDWOOD – North Wildwood Police responded to a call for a suspicious man in the 1300 block New Jersey Avenue April 27, at 2:21 a.m.
According to a release, Sgt. Matthew Mattera and Officers James Flynn and Steven Ransom responded and came in contact with Kenneth Calverley, 32, of Wildwood.
At first, Calverley gave his brother’s information to the officers but active warrants were found under that name. Calverley then told officers his real name and active warrants were found for him out of Lower Township and Pleasantville, and he was a wanted person by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
Calverley was arrested and property was found on him that did not belong to him. Officers checked the immediate area and found property belonging to others discarded in a trash can. Further investigation revealed Calverley committed multiple burglaries of unlocked vehicles and stole the items that were recovered at the scene out of those vehicles.
Calverley was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, and hindering apprehension. He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
The public is reminded to lock their vehicles when they are unoccupied and not in use.
The individual(s) listed is/are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
