WILDWOOD CREST – Special Officer Ronald Sutton was stopped by a woman who was in distress Sept. 17 at 10:11 p.m.
The investigation revealed the woman was being assaulted and threatened by Anthony Driscoll of Villas. The reported assault occurred in the victim’s motor vehicle where Driscoll was a passenger. In addition to the assault, Driscoll reportedly made threats to the victim and her family.
After the assault, the victim was able to flag down Special Officer Sutton and avoid further injury. Subsequently, Driscoll was arrested at the scene without incident. The Wildwood Crest Rescue Squad was called to police headquarters where they transported the woman to Cape Regional Medical Center for further evaluation. Driscoll was charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats and lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $25,000 bail.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
