Man Charged After Assaulting Two with Knife

NORTH WILDWOOD- North Wildwood Police responded to a disturbance call at 24 and New Jersey Avenues on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 7:37 PM. Upon arrival, Officers Richard Schmidt, Jr, and Grant Hofferica observed Donald Hughes holding a knife pointed toward two males standing on the sidewalk. Further investigation revealed that both males were assaulted by Hughes and sustained injuries and that the persons involved in this incident were known to each other. Officers subdued Hughes and placed him under arrest without incident. Both victims refused medical treatment.
Donald Hughes, 52, residing in North Wildwood, NJ, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unauthorized person possessing a weapon, terroristic threats and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Hughes was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center on $50,000 bail.
