ERMA – Lower Township Police Department, at approximately 5 p.m. Jan. 4, conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Cox Lane and Seashore Road, based on information supplied to police.
According to a release, John G. Bersani, of Erma, was operating the vehicle. Subsequent to a warrant arrest of Bersani, a quantity of marijuana was located, along with a small scale, typically used to weigh narcotics, and a medium-sized, fireproof safe.
Bersani’s vehicle was then towed to Lower Township Police Department where a search warrant was applied for and executed on Jan. 8. Upon opening the safe, over two pounds of marijuana was seized, along with another scale and narcotics packaging material.
Based on the contraband found, Bersani was charged with possession of marijuana over 50 grams, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute in a school zone, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
