ERMA — On Sun., Sept. 5 approximately 2 a.m. Lower Township police officers responded to the 100 Block of Arbor Road for a report of a woman screaming in the street.
Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle that was observed leaving the scene and located a 28-year-old female, who had bruising around her left eye and a cut on her hand.
The female victim stated that she had a heated verbal argument with her boyfriend, identified as Herman Hansen, age 27 of the 100 Block of Arbor Road, Villas.
The victim advised officers that Hansen then physically assaulted her and attempted to strangle her during the argument.
Lower Township Rescue Squad responded to the scene to evaluate the victim.
Hansen was arrested at the scene and was transported to Lower Township Police Department where he was charged with Assault during a Domestic Violence Incident.
Hansen was lodged in the Cape May County Jail in default of $2,500 bail set by Lower Township Municipal Court Judge, David DeVVeese.
The victim refused medical treatment and did not request a temporary restraining order from police officers.
The incident was investigated by Patrol Officer Jennifer Anzelone.
