Man Arrested for Distribution of Heroin

COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana announce the arrest of Corleon B. Riley of North Cape May June 18 for the distribution of heroin.
This arrest was the conclusion of a cooperative investigation between the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force, the Lower Township Police Department Detective Division, the Middle Township Police Department Detective Division, New Jersey State Police, DEA and members of the FBI Safe Street Task Force.
Riley was arrested June 18 in a parking lot in the 3900 Block of Bayshore Road located in the North Cape May section of Lower Township. Upon Riley’s arrest, he was found to be in possession of approximately 70 bags of heroin. Additionally, a court authorized search warrant was executed at Riley’s residence, located on Gordon Terrace in North Cape May. Found inside the residence was 130 bags of heroin, drug paraphernalia and ammunition. The combined street value of heroin seized is approximately $2,000.
During the course of this investigation it was gleaned that in addition to Riley distributing heroin, he was also found to be a documented associate to the Bloods Street Gang. Riley was charged with distribution of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) (heroin), third degree and possession of CDS (heroin), third degree. Bail was set for Riley at $50,000, full, by Judge F. Thomas Hillegass. Riley was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of bail.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a third degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of three to five years in New Jersey State Prison. Prosecutor Taylor stated that his office will continue to work hand in hand with the local municipalities along with state and federal agencies to target anyone associated with street gangs and drug distributors selling illegal controlled dangerous substances. Prosecutor Taylor continues to urge the citizens of Cape May County to report any information regarding illegal drug activity and or any criminal activity within the community and that this information can be reported anonymously through the Cape May County Sheriffs Tip Line at cmcsheriff.net and click on anonymous tip, or through the Cape May County Crime Stoppers at 609-465-2800 or 877-465-2801, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office at 609-465-1168.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
