RIO GRANDE – Middle Township Police Department received 911 calls reporting a robbery, which occurred in the Rio Mall parking lot in Rio Grande Dec. 1 at 6:35 p.m.
The initial investigation indicated a 68-year-old woman was getting in her car, when an unknown male threw her to the ground. The suspect ran off with the victim’s purse. Responding patrol units and Cape May County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area to search for the suspect. The male was not located.
The victim whom is not being identified suffered injuries to her face.
On Dec. 2, Sgt. Shepherd of the Middle Township Police Department was on patrol in Whitesboro. He observed a suspect that matched the description of the robbery suspect. The suspect was identified as Thomas Dickerson, 18, of Whitesboro. He was arrested and charged with robbery, a second degree crime. He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center on $50,000 cash bail.

The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
