STONE HARBOR – Officers were dispatched to the area of 99th Street and Corinthian Drive March 20 at approximately 2:55 a.m. after receiving a call from a resident reporting that an unknown subject was trying to enter her home.
Upon officer arrival, the subject had left the area. A canvass of the area was conducted and Sergeant Robert Walker located an intoxicated subject identified as Robert D. DeClementi attempting to enter another home on the 300 block of 99th Street with a small metal bar. He was actively trying to ‘jimmy’ the door open. A search of DeClementi revealed he was in possession of a large quantity of pills, namely 92 Clonazepam, more than 100 Xanax, five Dilaudid, nine Morphine, nine Amphetamine and Dextroxamphetamine, three Oxycodine and two Clonidine.
Subsequent to DeClementi’s arrest, he was charged with burglary, third degree, distribution of prescription legend drugs, second degree, possession of CDS, third degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, a petty disorderly persons offense, possession of burglar tools, a disorderly persons offense and disorderly conduct.
DeClementi was soaking wet and it is suspected that he had fallen in the bay. During processing and based on DeClementi’s physical condition, he was transported to Cape Regional Hospital for an evaluation and was subsequently admitted. He was released from the hospital the following day and transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $85,000 bail set by Judge John Fowler. The case is pending review by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
