Man Allegedly Holds Gun On Mom, Tot for Money

DEL HAVEN – Middle Township Police responded to a residence on Bucknell Avenue in Del Haven Nov. 30 at approximately 2 a.m. for a report of a man with a gun forcing his way into the residence.
It was learned that the man, subsequently identified as Joseph Macklin, 31, from North Wildwood, became aware that the victim had recently accumulated a large amount of money. This prompted Macklin to force his way into the residence, holding the victim and her 3-year-old daughter at gun point, demanding the money.
Macklin fled the scene with various items taken from the residence, and was ultimately arrested in North Wildwood without incident by members of the department’s Street Crimes Unit.
No injuries occurred to the victim or her daughter.
Macklin was charged with armed robbery, first degree; burglary, second degree; certain persons not to possess firearms, second degree; possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, third degree; criminal restraint, third degree and endangering the welfare of a child, third degree. 
Bail was set at $300,000. Macklin is currently incarcerated in the Cape May County Correctional Center. 
Anyone with information regarding this crime is requested to contact Detective Dan Martin of the department’s Major Crimes Unit.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
