SEA ISLE CITY – Police have arrested a Pine Hill man and charged him with sexually assaulting two juveniles in Sea Isle City.
In a joint press release from Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Sea Isle City Police Chief Anthony Garreffi Jr., the Sea Isle City Police Department (SICPD) announced the arrest of William Smith Jr., 64, after an investigation began in February.
The SICPD and county prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit began their investigation after two juvenile male victims reported being sexually assaulted by Smith in a Sea Isle City residence.
At the conclusion of the investigation, March 29, Smith was charged with two second-degree counts of sexual assault and three second-degree counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Smith is currently being lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
If convicted, a second-degree crime is subject to a term of imprisonment of five to 10 years in New Jersey state prison.
