Lower Township Police Responded to 628 Calls on Holiday Weekend

ERMA — Lower Township Police Department responded to 628 incidents over the Memorial Day Weekend.
The weekend activities included 18 arrests including a narcotics arrest that netted 19 bags of cocaine and 13 bags of marijuana.
ON May 26 at about 3:45 p.m., detectives also investigated a reported stabbing in the first block of West New York Avenue, Villas.
The victim, a 33-year-old white male, reported that he had been stabbed repeatedly in the head. The victim sustained serious head wounds, according to police. However, it was learned that the injuries had been self-inflicted.
Lower Township Rescue Squad transported the person to Cape Regional Medical Center where he was treated and admitted for observation.
On May 25 at about 5:47 a.m., officers investigated an aggravated assault in which a 30-year-old white male, in the first block of East Tampa Avenue, Villas, was assaulted with an aluminum baseball bat.
A warrant was issued for Jason Smith, 29, of 212 E. Tampa Ave., Villas stemming from that incident.
Smith is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.
Lower Township Rescue Squad transported the victim to Cape Regional Medical Center.
As of May 27, Smith remained at large.
On May 26, about 8:55 p.m., police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at Towerview Road, Erma.
It was determined that the driver of a motorcycle, Howard Chattley, 52, of the 900 block Towerview Road, left the roadway and struck a residence on Towerview Road.
He sustained head and leg injuries and was treated by Lower Township Rescue Squad then airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated.
Other activities included:
Three aggravated assaults, five burglaries, six thefts, six trespassing complaints and four criminal mischief complaints.
There were 12 disorderly conduct complaints, six domestic violence complaints; four driving while intoxicated arrests and 26 emergency medical calls.
Six fire calls, 20 local ordinance complaints, 13 motor vehicle accidents, 146 motor vehicle stops and 63 motor vehicle summonses issued.
There were three narcotics investigations and arrests, two arrests for obstruction of justice and resisting arrest, eight warrant arrests and 14 animal complaints.
