Lower Township Police Recover Nearly 100 Bags of Heroin, Arrest Two

ERMA — A drug interdiction operation was conducted in Villas by Lower Township police on Nov. 26 at 3:30 p.m. Two men were arrested who were allegedly in the process of delivering heroin.
The first, Richard Irons, 25, of the first block Maryland Avenue, Villas, was under surveillance when he arrived at a residence in the 200 block of Vermont Avenue, Villas.
Shortly afterward, Irons was seen by Detective Chris Lambert approaching him and discarded nearly 90 bags of heroin in a vehicle he had been using.
Lambert observed that action, and the heroin was recovered.
The second person, Rodney Frazier, 59, of the first block of Breakwater Place, North Cape May was allegedly found to be in possession of 10 bags of heroin.
Irons and Frazier were arrested at the scene and taken to Lower Township police headquarters for processing.
Municipal Court Judge Louis Belasco set bail at $35,000 for Irons, who was charged with possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute. He was remanded to county jail in lieu of bail.
Frazier was charged on a summons with possession of heroin.
Detectives Chris Lambert, Edward Dougherty and Mel Hedum investigated the case.
