ERMA — Lower Township police had a very busy Labor Day weekend responding to numerous incidents and calls for service from Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
Some of those incidents included:
• 25 disorderly conduct complaints;
• seven domestic violence calls;
• two domestic violence calls with assaults;
• four simple assaults; one aggravated assault;
• one sexual assault investigation and arrest;
• one arson investigation and arrest;
• 20 emergency medical calls; six fire calls;
• 15 thefts;
• six trespassing complaints;
• 20 suspicious person field inquiries;
• five criminal mischief complaints;
• nine local ordinance violations;
• 28 parking offenses;
• 12 motor vehicle accident investigations;
• 97 property checks conducted;
• three juvenile curlew violations; and
• four driving while intoxicated arrests.
Officers made a total of 13 arrests over the weekend.
Police reported that township’s beaches on the ocean and bay were all packed with beachgoers and swimmers; its numerous campgrounds and marinas were very crowded; and the intercoastal waterway was very active with heavy boat and personal watercraft traffic.
In all, Lower Township police responded to or handled 570 incidents over the holiday weekend.
