Lower Township Police Arrest Suspect in Aggravated Assault

LOWER TOWNSHIP POLICE RELEASE:
NORTH CAPE MAY — On Thursday, July 23 at approximately 02:50 am, Lower Township Patrol Officers were called to the 700 Block of Caspian Avenue in the North Cape May Section of Lower Township for a fight in progress.
Investigation on scene determined that the homeowner had been having a house party when several unwanted male subjects crashed the party and refused to leave.
When a 17 year old male asked one (1) of the subjects not to lean against his car, the subject sucker punched the juvenile in the face several times causing lacerations to his face and a broken nose.
When the female homeowner tried to intervene, she was also punched in the head by the subject.
The 17 year old juvenile was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Lower Township Rescue Squad for emergency medical treatment.
Patrolman Robert Hartman and Detective Joseph Boyle investigated the incident and through witnesses were able to identify the perpetrator as Andrew P. Blanda, 19 years old of the 100 Block of East Orchard Road in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey.
At approximately 6:00 am Wildwood Crest and Lower Township Police Officers were able to locate Blanda in Wildwood Crest, after which he was transported to the Lower Township Police Department where he was charged with Aggravated Assault, then lodged in the Cape May County Jail on $15,000 cash bail set by Lower Township Municipal Court Judge, David
DeWeese.
