Lower Township Police Arrest Second Megan’s Law Address Violator

ERMA — For the second time in a week, Lower Township police have charged a Megan’s Law registrant with failure to notify them of an address change.
According to a release, Detective Edward Dougherty, who heads the department’s Megan’s Law compliance, was checking a residence of Bernard Demers to verify his address.
Doughtery, accompanied by Middle Township Police Detective Clint Stocker, spoke to the homeowner at the address given, and was advised that Demers had not been staying there for over two months.
Dougherty located Demers at a residence in Burleigh, Middle Township.
Dougherty charged Demers, 34, with failure to notify Lower Township Police of his address change on a warrant with $2,500 c ash bail, a fourth-degree crime.
