CAPE MAY POINT – Following a two day investigation, the Lower Township Police Department has arrested a suspect in a burglary and theft that occurred on July 20, at approximately 2 a.m. at the Sunset Beach Sportsmen’s Club.
The club, located at the west end of Sunset Boulevard near the Concrete Ship Parking Lot, was forcibly entered early Tuesday morning with over $200 cash removed from the cash register.
The perpetrator also removed a safe from the building.
After several days of investigation, Lower Township Detectives developed a suspect in the incident, identified as Kevin Moore, 41, of North Cape May.
After locating and interviewing the suspect, Detectives charged Moore on a warrant with one count of Burglary, being a 3rd Degree crime and one count of Theft of Movable Property, being a 4th Degree crime and one count of criminal mischief.
Detectives also recovered the stolen safe during the investigation.
The investigation was conducted by patrolman Shaun Whittington, Detective Joseph Boyle and DFC Mel Hedum.
