LOWER TOWNSHIP– The pit bull that attacked a local pet shop owner on May 31st was spared being euthanized by Lower Township Municipal Court Judge David DeWeese on Tuesday after the owner of the dog took a plea agreement.
Patsy Nelson, 63, the owner of Wagging Tail Pet Shop located on Route 9 in the township’s Erma section had received very serious bite wounds to her arm and hip in the attack, according to Lower Township police.
Lower Township Animal Control Officer, Donald Montgomery, issued local ordinance summonses that included “owner’s dog causing serious injury to another person” to the three year-old pit bull’s owner Donald Titus, 26, who resided over top of the pet store.
Montgomery wanted the pit bull to be put down due to the seriousness of the injuries Nelson sustained.
Titus told DeWeese he plans to move the dog to his mother’s home in the Beesley’s Point section of Upper Township, according to published reports.
