ERMA — A strong-arm robbery on Wed., April 27 in the 300 block of Route 9 about 8:40 a.m. succeeded whereas one the prior day failed in another section of Lower Township.
According to a Lower Township police release, the department continues t investigate a robbery of a female who had just pulled into her driveway when a man, wearing a dark, skin-tight mask on his face, accosted her and demanded she give him her purse. The suspect then grabbed her purse and was last seen running west across Route 9 into a wooded area.
Lower Township police immediately responded, and conducted an area search. Members of Middle Township Police Department and the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department K-9 units aided them in that search.
The suspect was described as a white male of thin build, about 5’9” in height and wore dark-colored jeans and a black hoodie sweatshirt.
Lower Township police reported they continue to investigate a similar incident that took place on Tue., April 26 at about 5:30 a.m.
In that incident at Greenwood Avenue Apartments, on Bayshore Road, Villas, a male wore a hoodie sweatshirt, ball cap, and dark-colored pants. Police said he approached a woman’s vehicle, reached through her open driver-side window, grabbed her arm, and ordered her out of the vehicle.
She refused, and the suspect fled on foot. The victim was unsure of the suspect’s race.
Investigation of both incidents is ongoing, according to police.
