NORTH CAPE MAY — A Tuckerton man was arrested Dec. 5 by Lower Township police and charged with possession of heroin and intent to distribute the same.
According to police, about 1 p.m. while conducting a drug interdiction operation they arrested Donald Ovestrud, 34, of the first block Pin Oak Lane, Tuckerton.
He was under surveillance when he arrived at a fast food establishment in the 3000 block of Bayshore Road here.
Shortly afterward, Detectives Chris Lambert and Joseph Boyle approached Ovestrud and seized about 100 bags of heroin the the vehicle he used for travel.
Arrested at the scene, Ovestruf was processed at Lower Township police headquarters.
Judge David DeWeese set bail at $15,000 cash for Ovestrud, who had been charged with possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute. He was remanded to county jail in lieu of bail.
The incident was the second of its kind in the past few weeks that led to the seizure of about 100 bags of heroin each time.
In addition to Lambert and Boyle, Detective Edward Dougherty also investigated the case.
