ERMA- Lower Township police received several 9-1-1 calls reporting a fight in progress in the middle of the street in the 200 Block of Sunset Drive, Wednesday Sept. 9 at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Patrol Officers responded to the area and broke up an altercation between three adult males. Investigation on scene determined that Andrew Loiseau, 19, of Court House and his brother, Steven Loiseau, 26, had received a phone call from a female acquaintance stating that she was being held against her will at a residence in the 200 Block of Sunset Drive by a Christopher Thompson, Jr., 20, of Newfield.
The Loiseau brothers then proceeded to Sunset Drive in the Erma Section of Lower Township in a red four door Chevrolet Malibu. When the Loiseau brothers exited the motor vehicle, they were immediately charged by Thompson who began assaulting them.
During the course of the physical altercation, Thompson repeatedly struck Andrew Loiseau in the head causing swelling to the rear of the victim’s head as well as swelling and abrasions to Andrew Loiseau’s forehead. Due to these injuries, Andrew Loiseau was transported by the Lower Township Rescue Squad to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment.
At some point during the altercation, Mr. Thompson produced a knife and cut the finger of Steven Loiseau causing bleeding.
However, at the time of the incident, Steven Loiseau refused to be transported for treatment for the laceration wound sustained by the knife.
After cutting Steven Loiseau, Thompson then threw the knife at the Chevy Malibu that the brothers had arrived in, causing damage to the vehicle after which Thompson picked up a large piece of asphalt from the road and smashed the windshield of the vehicle with the asphalt.
When Sergeant Thomas Beeby attempted to interview Thompson at the scene, Thompson became highly belligerent and combative towards the officer and then attempted to flee the area on foot and had to be tackled and restrained by Sergeant Beeby, according to police.
Thompson was arrested at the scene for Obstruction of Justice and Resisting Arrest, He was transported to Lower Township Police Department and charged with the additional offenses of Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes, one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, one count of Simple Assault, one count of Criminal Mischief.
Thompson was lodged in the county jail with bail set at $25,000 by Municipal Court Judge George Neidig. Investigation was conducted by Patrol Officer Kevin Lewis and Detective Joseph Boyle.
