Lower, North Wildwood Police Arrest Burglary Suspect

NORTH WILDWOOD — Lower Township police reported the arrest of two subjects in regards to an ongoing investigation into a burglary of a North Cape May home in which a large amount of cash was removed from the residence.
The investigation lead police on March 4 to North Wildwood where Lower Township detectives and North Wildwood police arrested Thomas Chanoux, 33, of the 400 block East 24th Street for burglary and Krista Iames, 29, for possession of stolen property.
The case was originally reported on February 28 in which a large amount of cash was taken from a home on Cranefly Circle. Follow up investigation developed the above persons of interest. Attempts to locate them proved difficult due to their transient nature.
Additional information regarding another burglary on Sunnyside Drive, North Cape May was received involving the theft of jewelry and three handguns. The victims of this theft were not aware of the items missing until being notified by police. Jewelry was recovered at the scene in North Wildwood, but the handguns had allegedly been sold approximately one month ago. Police are still attempting to recover these weapons from unknown individuals.
Chanoux was processed and then transferred to county jail in lieu of $25,000 bail set by Judge DeWeese.
Chanoux was also wanted by the State of Delaware and was charged as a fugitive from justice. According to the Department of Corrections, Chanoux has been in and out of state prison on drug offenses. He was incarcerated from April 1, 2005 to Jan. 17, 2008 and again from Aug. 7, 2008 to Oct. 30, 2008.
Iames was charged with burglary and theft from the Sunnyside address for the jewelry and released on a summons.
Detective Chris Lambert, Detective First Class Mel Hedum and North Wildwood Police investigated the case.
