COURT HOUSE–On the Thursday, May 14 the Middle Township Police Department received a call reporting that a juvenile was on top of the pedestrian overpass that crosses the Garden State Parkway, performing lewd acts.
When the first police officer responded, three juveniles ran. The juveniles were then ordered to stop by the police officer but they continued to run. The officer chased two of the juveniles through the grass of Elementary School #1 as children were coming out for recess. A second police officer ordered everyone back inside because it was not clear what was going on at that time. Police dispatch called the school minutes later and told them that it was safe to go outside.
Two of the juveniles were spotted again and apprehended after a short foot chase. The third suspect turned himself in after making contact with his friends by cell phone.
All three juveniles were charged with Obstruction of Justice and Resisting Arrest. One juvenile was additionally charged with Hindering Apprehension and another juvenile was additionally charged with Lewdness.
