By Press Release

NORTH WILDWOOD – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and North Wildwood Police Chief Matthew Gallagher announce the arrest of Ernest Grey, 40, of Wildwood.
The aforementioned law enforcement agencies conducted a joint investigation into an arson, burglary and theft that occurred at the Family Dollar store located at 2510 Delaware Avenue in North Wildwood April 25, 2014. At approximately 11:11 p.m. on that date, North Wildwood Police responded to the store for a report of a structure fire at that location. As officers responded to the scene, heavy smoke was coming from the store. Further investigation revealed that the store was burglarized and an undetermined amount of money was taken.
It was determined through the course of the investigation that Grey set a fire inside the store, causing Family Dollar to be closed for several days. Grey was arrested March 23 and charged with aggravated arson and burglary. He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $75,000 full bail.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
