CREST HAVEN — Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Sea Isle City Police Chief Thomas D’Intino announced on Thursday, Feb. 11 that an investigative initiative will take place this weekend during the Polar Bear Plunge festivities in Sea Isle City.
The action will be directed toward the investigation into the Feb. 15, 2009 death of 35- year-old Tracy Hottenstein in Sea Isle City, according to a joint release from the law enforcement agencies.
During last year’s Polar Bear Plunge weekend, Hottenstein’s body was found by a passerby on Sunday, Feb. 15, at approximately 7:35 a.m. at the street end on 42nd Place at the Sea Isle City Marina.
Hottenstein was last seen leaving the Ocean Drive Bar and Restaurant, 3915 Landis Ave., Sea Isle City at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15. Hottenstein was wearing a black long-sleeved top, dark blue jeans, tan Ugg brand boots, a pink plaid hat, and pink scarf. To date, investigators have not been able to determine all of Hottenstein’s movements after leaving the bar.
Investigators are attempting to gain answers into the circumstances surrounding how Hottenstein arrived in the area where her body was later located.
Teams of detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Sea Isle City Police Department will be in Sea Isle City on Friday, Saturday and Sunday attempting to locate anyone who may have information about Hottenstein’s death.
The County Prosecutor’s Incident Command Vehicle will be located near the intersection of John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Landis Avenue for anyone who would like to provide information.
The Prosecutor’s Office and Sea Isle City Police Department continue to request the public’s assistance to determine Hottenstein’s whereabouts after leaving the Ocean Drive Bar and Restaurant.
Prosecutor Taylor and Sea Isle City Police Chief D’intino encourage anyone who saw her after 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009 to contact Lt.
