COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 13 indictments Sept. 19.
The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance.
Nequan D. Bennett
Nequan Bennett, 20, of Wildwood, allegedly “used force in the process of committing a theft” on 26th Street in North Wildwood. Bennett was indicted for first-degree robbery, along with burglary and aggravated assault, each in the second degree.
A conviction for a first degree felony can carry a 10 to 20-year jail sentence while second degree offenses can each carry five to 10 years.
Rodney E. Frazier
Rodney Frazier, 68, of North Cape May, was indicted for possession of a CDS. The incident occurred in Wildwood during the Independence Day holiday period.
Dachon M. Green
Dachon Green, 21, of Blackwood, was arrested in Wildwood in May for allegedly taking property valued at greater than $500 from a male victim. Green was indicted for third-degree theft.
James J. Schneider
James Schneider, of Woodbine, was indicted on two fourth-degree counts for driving without a license and operating a motor vehicle on second license suspension.
Robert E. Hass and Nelson Otero
On separate indictments, two Wildwood men were indicted for possession of a CDS, third degree. Robert Hass allegedly possessed alprazolam while in Wildwood in July. Nelson Otero faces two counts for possession of both cocaine and oxycodone stemming from an incident in Wildwood in August.
Caitlyn Young
Caitlyn Young, 27, of Green Creek, was indicted twice in June for burglary and possession of a CDS. This week, she was indicted for possession of heroin in Middle Township.
Edward J. Winning and Paul P. Calfina
On June 22, Paul Calfina, 45, of Villas, allegedly entered an unoccupied residence on Tennessee Avenue taking jewelry police say was valued at about $3,000. Calfina then allegedly gave the jewelry to Edward Winning, 52, also of Villas, who then allegedly sold it at a local pawn shop.
Calfina was indicted for burglary and theft, each in the third degree, while Winning faces an indictment for receiving stolen property, third degree.
David P. Tosto, Jasmine R. Scheffel and Shevindra B. Talwatte
Under separate indictments, David Tosto, 45, Jasmine Scheffel, 29, of Morgantown, W. Va., and Shevindra Talwatte, 29, of Villas, face charges for third degree possession of a CDS.
Tosto faces two counts for an August incident in Wildwood when he allegedly possessed both oxycodone and buprenorphine. Scheffel was also arrested in Wildwood for possession of cocaine in July. The incident involving Talwatte was in Middle Township on July 2 and involved alleged possession of heroin.
Miguel Passanante and Daron L. Johnson
Wildwood police maintain that Daron Johnson was dealing cocaine within 500 feet of public property Aug. 4. Johnson was indicted for possession of a CDS with intent to distribute, third degree, and possession with intent with 500 feet of public property, second degree. Both Johnson and Miguel Passanante share a count for third degree possession of a CDS.
Justin D. Figueroa
Justin D. Figueroa allegedly entered a Webster Avenue apartment in Woodbine on July 6, threatened bodily harm to a female victim and took property valued at greater than $500.
Figueroa was indicted for second degree burglary and third degree terroristic threats.
The above individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
