COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 11 indictments March 7. The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance.
Jacob Wagenvoord
Jacob Wagenvoord, 40, of Ocean City, was indicted for violation of community service, a third-degree offense. Wagenvoord was convicted of second-degree sexual assault in 2000. The new indictment alleges that he failed to abide by conditions of his community supervision which required he refrain from the use of social media and not use or possess a CDS.
Carollee Schick, Jonathan Chester
Police executed a search warrant for a home on Petticoat Creek Lane in Cold Spring. They allegedly found equipment used to make counterfeit U.S. currency. Carollee Schick, 55, and Jonathan Chester, 25, were arrested. The two have been indicted for forgery, conspiracy to commit forgery, and possession of forgery devices, each count in the third degree.
Brad Sims, Charles Garvey
While many celebrated Halloween Oct. 31, 2016, Brad Sims, 40, and Charles Garvey, 48, both of Wildwood, were being arrested after allegedly selling stolen property to a Rio Grande merchant. The indictment alleges that Garvey drove Sims to the merchant and that the two split the proceeds after the sale.
The two were indicted for receiving stolen property, fencing, and conspiracy, each third degree.
Anthony Thompson, Anthony Caffarella, Joseph Walczyk
Three days before Christmas 2016, Anthony Thompson, 39, of Rio Grande was arrested on multiple drug offenses. This week he was indicted on four separate counts of possession of a CDS, one count of distribution of a CDS, two counts of possession with intent to distribute, and one count of eluding police by attempting to flee. All eight counts were in the third degree.
Anthony Caffarella, 21, of Cape May, and Joseph Walczyk, 21, of Court House were each named on one count of third-degree possession of a CDS.
Otis Befoh
Otis Befoh, 20, of Burlington, was indicted for burglary and two counts of theft, each third degree. The theft involved the taking of a 2015 Lincoln MKX automobile in Ventnor. The indictment was silent on why the Cape May County grand jury dealt with the case.
Justin Doyle
Justin Doyle, 22, of Succasunna, Morris County, was indicted on burglary and attempt burglary counts, each third degree, for allegedly breaking into two automobiles and taking a credit card. The third count of his indictment was for fourth-degree theft or receipt of a credit card.
Gerald Mack
On Jan. 5, Lower Township police responded to a report of suspicious activity on an abandoned property in Villas. Police report that Gerald Mack, 22, of Villas, was found in a structure on the property. Mack was indicted for criminal trespass, fourth-degree.
Marilyn Hamann-McCormick, Peter Markmann, William Sanford
In separate indictments, Marilyn Hamann-McCormick, 44, of Dennis Township, Peter Markmann, of Wildwood Crest, and William Sanford, 30, of Wildwood were each indicted for third-degree possession of a CDS.
The above individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
