Indictments Filed March 21

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 19 indictments March 21. The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance. 
Michael Burke
Michael Burke, 23, of Sewell was indicted for third-degree theft. Burke allegedly stole a Honda motorcycle in Cape May only to be apprehended in Atlantic City after crashing the motorcycle into a car in a garage.
After the crash, Burke allegedly tried to elude police by fleeing on foot. Along with his indictment in Cape May County, Burke will face charges in Atlantic County that include resisting arrest.
Nicholas Alexander
In December 2015, Lower Township police responded to a home in Villas to find a resident with burns to his face and arms. During that encounter, Nicholas Alexander, 25, of Villas, allegedly tried to flee the house. 
This week Alexander was indicted on first-degree counts for maintaining and attempting to maintain a CDS production facility. He also faces second-degree charges for conspiracy to produce methamphetamine. Alexander received a fourth count of endangering the welfare of a child, third degree.
Conviction of a first-degree count can carry a prison sentence of 10 to 20 years.
Robert Becker
Robert Becker allegedly attempted to defraud the administration of a required drug test and possessed a device to aid in that attempt. The attempt to defraud is a third-degree count and possession of the device fourth degree.
James Castle
James Castle, of Ocean City, was indicted for third-degree shoplifting at an Ocean City supermarket. To qualify for a third-degree count, the value of the merchandise taken must exceed $500.
William Dorr, Keith Merendino, Frank Alfe
William Dorr, 39, of Wildwood, Keith Merendino, of Ocean City, and Frank Alfe, 37, of Wildwood Crest were indicted separately for third-degree possession of a CDS.
Anthony Jordan
Anthony Jordan, 35, of Wildwood, was indicted for possession of a CDS, possession with intent to distribute and intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, each count in the third degree.  Jordan also faces two second-degree counts for intent to distribute within 500 feet of public property and endangering the welfare of a 10-year -old child.
Jordan’s arrest came after a four-week investigation by Wildwood Police.
Aaron Lockwood
In West Wildwood, Aaron Lockwood allegedly attempted to lure two children to a specific location from October to December 2016.  He was indicted for second-degree enticing a child. The ages of children were 10 and 12.
Scott McGuire
In Middle Township, Scott McGuire allegedly committed assault on a female victim while possessing a knife.  He followed this with allegedly resisting arrest by a Middle Township police officer.
He was indicted for resisting arrest, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, each third degree. An additional count of the indictment charged him with unlawful possession of a weapon, fourth degree.
Damion Hitchcock
Damion Hitchcock, 46, of Waterbury, Conn., allegedly committed assault using a collapsible baton Jan. 6 in Lower Township. He was indicted for aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, each third degree, along with unlawful possession of a weapon and prohibited weapon, each fourth degree.
Sean Stone, Douglas Haferl
On Feb. 2, Sean Stone, 27, driver, and Douglas Haferl, 26, passenger, both of Villas, were stopped by Lower Township police because officers said they knew them to have outstanding warrants. A search of the vehicle allegedly found heroin. The two have been indicted on third-degree possession of a CDS and possession with intent to distribute.
Theresa Robey, Sean Stone
Theresa Robey, of Wildwood, and Sean Stone, 27, of Villas were separately indicted for possession of a CDS, third degree. For Stone, this was his second indictment of the day from the grand jury.  This offense allegedly took place Jan. 17, just before the traffic stop and arrest mentioned above.
Stephen Woertz
Stephen Woertz, 33, of North Wildwood was allegedly involved in an altercation in which he “caused serious bodily injury” to another with a glass beer bottle. Woertz was indicted for second-degree aggravated assault, along with third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
A search allegedly found Woertz to be in possession of buprenorphine, a narcotic that is often used to treat opioid addiction. This added a fourth count of the indictment for possession of a CDS, third degree.
Beth Sondles
Beth Sondles was indicted for third-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft for allegedly entering and taking property from home on 92nd Street in Stone Harbor.
Grady Faircloth IV, Justin Linden
Grady Faircloth IV, 26, of Green Creek, was indicted for burglary and theft, third degree, along with hindering apprehension by providing false information, fourth degree. Faircloth allegedly stole a 2005 Suzuki RMZ450 from a home near the airport in Lower Township. Justin Linden, 27, of Green Creek, was indicted for fourth-degree hindering Faircloth’s apprehension by providing false information.
Patrick O’Brian, Tara Laun
In November and December 2016, Patrick O’Brian allegedly shoplifted merchandise from two different supermarkets in Upper Township. He was indicted on separate counts of shoplifting, one in the third degree and the other in the fourth.
On Dec. 26, O’Brian and an accomplice, Tara Laun, 30, allegedly struck one of the same stores again.  Both received an additional count of fourth-degree shoplifting. 
Jeremie Szubski, Robyn Lambert, Edward McCleary
Jeremie Szubski, 33, and Edward McCleary, 38, both of Wildwood, were indicted for possession of a CDS, heroin, and possession with intent to distribute each third degree. McCleary had an added count of possession of Fentanyl, also third degree.
Robyn Lambert, 36, of West Wildwood, was indicted for possession of a CDS, third degree.  
The above individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
