COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 15 indictments June 26.
The abbreviation CDS below stands for “controlled dangerous substance.”
A charge of “certain person not to have a weapon” can be brought against someone who was previously convicted of a felony.
Law enforcement agents have made the allegations against the named individuals who are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
John Leszczynski
On June 19, John Leszczynski, 38, of Villas, was indicted for terroristic threats in the third degree, along with first-degree witness tampering.
This week Leszczynski faces a new indictment with the same charges as on June 19, and added second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and three fourth-degree counts for a prohibited weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon and certain person.
The prohibited weapon was a pair of metal knuckles. The certain person count stems from an earlier conviction in 2008 for burglary.
W. K. Johnson
W. K. Johnson, 55, of Erma, was indicted for third-degree theft by deception, along with two fourth-degree counts for forgery and uttering a forged instrument.
Law enforcement reports state that Johnson defrauded a victim out of $21,000 by altering the cost breakdown of a manufacturer of custom modular homes.
Nicholas T. Kelly
Nicholas Kelly, of Wildwood, faces three counts of third-degree aggravated assault and one count of resisting arrest, third degree. The indictment states that Kelly assaulted three members of the Wildwood Police Department as they attempted to make an arrest.
Jimmy Harvey
Jimmy Harvey, of Rio Grande, was indicted for escape, third degree after he failed to return to official detention after a temporary leave.
Molly R. Doyle
Molly Doyle, 19, of Wildwood Crest, faces a fourth-degree count for fake incrimination after she made a false report of the impending suicide of her ex-boyfriend causing police to respond to the scene.
Edgar L. Clark
Edward Clark faces a fourth-degree indictment for unlawful possession of a weapon, a machete, in Sea Isle City, May 13.
Kenneth L. Calverley
Kenneth Calverley, 29, of Wildwood was indicted on nine separate counts of third degree burglary. The indictment lists nine motor vehicles that Calverley illegally entered on a day in April in North Wildwood. The indictment contained no counts for actual theft.
Tara Tomes
Tara Tomes, 31, of Villas, was indicted for possession of a CDS, methadone, third degree.
John F. Smith
John F. Smith was indicted for theft by deception, third degree, and violation of the contractor registration act, fourth degree, after he offered to perform repairs in Ocean City while not registered with the state. The indictment states that Smith defrauded the homeowner of more than $500.
Edwin Velez-Soto
Edwin Velez-Soto, of Wildwood, was indicted for third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, as well as fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and certain person. Velez-Soto has been previously convicted of distribution of a CDS in 2010. The weapon was described as a folding knife.
John F. Jenner
John Jenner, 53, was indicted for aggravated assault, two counts, third degree, along with two additional third-degree counts for terroristic threats and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. The weapon was a pair of cutting pliers. The indictment contained three additional counts in the fourth degree for unlawful possession of a weapon, criminal mischief and certain person. Jenner had been convicted in 2015 for aggravated assault.
Jonathan Santiago-Romero
Jonathan Santiago-Romero, of Wildwood, was indicted for possession of a CDS, heroin, and possession with intent to distribute. Both counts were in the third degree.
Thomas B. Marks
Thomas Marks, of Wildwood, was indicted for third-degree possession of a CDS, cocaine, along with fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Daniel R. Lloyd and Matthew J. Adkins
Daniel Lloyd and Matthew Adkins, 41, of Wildwood, were indicted for third-degree possession of a CDS, heroin. Adkins faces additional counts for third-degree possession with intent to distribute and second degree intent within 500 feet of public property.
Antonio D. Richardson and Megan E. McDevitt
Antonio Richardson 25, of Millville, and Megan McDevitt, 26, of North Wildwood were both indicted for third-degree possession of a CDS, heroin, and third-degree conspiracy. Richardson also faces a count for resisting arrest by attempting to flee and elude police. McDevitt faces an additional third-degree count for possession of Clonazepam.
