Indictments Filed July 31

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 21 indictments July 31.
The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance.
The individuals named are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Navoisa Butler
Navoisa Butler, of Millville, was indicted for endangering the welfare of a child, a 2-year-old, third degree, along with aggravated assault, second degree. The incident occurred in Middle Township.
Aaron Card, Joseph Cumminskey, Auston Denney, Sage Swayngim
Separate indictments based on Upper Township arrests saw the four above-listed individuals each indicted for possession of a CDS.
Denney and Swayngim also face a second count for third-degree conspiracy.
Von Duhart
Von Duhart, 57, of Court House was indicted for two counts of third-degree aggravated assault, along with one third-degree count for possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. 
The weapon was identified in the indictment as a back scratcher. 
Randall A. Fine
Randall Fine was indicted for third-degree aggravated assault and making terroristic threats. He also faces counts for third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. 
The indictment stems from an incident in Sea Isle City July 9.
Gregory Straub
Gregory Straub, 46, was involved in a Lower Township car crash in June. He was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and cocaine, along with a knife. 
Straub faces two counts for third-degree possession of a CDS and one count for fourth-degree certain person not to possess a weapon.  That last count is due to his 2009 conviction in Cape May County for burglary.
Alden Gobel
Ocean City resident Alden Gobel was indicted for third-degree theft from a local supermarket. The indictment states that Gobel took property from the store from April 14 to May 25.
Wilson Laracuente, Jr.
Wilson Laracuente, Jr., of Woodbine, was indicted for uttering a false instrument to be true, third degree. Laracuente attempted to pass a counterfeit $100 bill.
Angela Patten
In Dennis Township Angela Patten was charged with disobeying a child protection order.  She was indicted for fourth-degree contempt.
Christopher Kane
Christopher Kane, Wildwood, was indicted for possession of a CDS, cocaine, third degree.
Douglas B. Hickman
Douglas Hickman was indicted on three separate counts of third-degree burglary, along with one count of fourth-degree theft.  The indictment lists two dates when Hickman illegally entered the same residence. On one those occasions, a car belonging to a resident was also burglarized.
Steven Holub
Steven Holub was indicted for hindering apprehension, third degree.  The indictment claims that Holub hindered his apprehension in North Wildwood in June. 
Kevin S. Hughes
Kevin Hughes, of Sea Isle City, was indicted for possession of a CDS, alprazolam, third degree.
Joseph Steel
Joseph Steel was indicted for violation of community supervision for life, fourth degree. Steel was placed on supervision due to his conviction in 2003 for endangering the welfare of a child.  He is accused of failing to report and failing to attend required counseling.
Paul Nepi
Paul Nepi, 45, of Mahanoy City, Pa., was indicted on two counts each of second-degree sexual assault, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. The six counts involve two children then ages 7 and 8. The charges stem from 2012.
Mariela Smith
Mariela Smith, of Cape May, faces one count of bad checks, third degree, for issuing a check in 2016 for $8,035 which “she knew the bank would not honor.”
James Schneider
James Schneider, of Upper Township, was indicted for third-degree possession of a CDS, cocaine, along with fourth-degree hindering apprehension.
Raymond E. Sientki
Raymond Sientki, 42, of Villas, faces three third-degree counts for possession of a CDS, heroin, possession with intent to distribute, and intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property.
Dennis Staley, Briana Ehrlich
Dennis Staley and Briana Ehrlich were indicted for third-degree possession of a CDS and conspiracy to possess a CDS. The indictments stem from an arrest in Woodbine in December 2017.
