Indictments Filed Jan. 7

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 12 indictments Jan. 7. 
The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance. 
A “certain person not to have weapons” charge can be made against an individual found in possession of a weapon, even though a previous felony conviction banned weapons possession.    
All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Christopher M. Denn
Christopher Denn, 48, of Ocean View, was indicted on two fourth-degree counts for exposure and lewdness while he worked as an Ocean City lifeguard in July 2019. Denn, a teacher at Mainland Regional High School, faces counts for criminal sexual contact and lewdness.
George Flanagan
George Flanagan, 31, of Eldora, is facing two third-degree counts for possession of a CDS, fentanyl, and possession with intent to distribute.
Nelson Irizarry-Garcia 
Nelson Irizarry-Garcia, 33, of Lower Township, faces a six-count indictment and is currently housed at the Cape May County Correctional Facility. 
Irizarry-Garcia faces second-degree burglary and third-degree theft and receiving stolen property charges stemming from a Dec. 2 incident, where he engaged in a burglary and theft of a handgun, according to the indictment. 
Possession of the weapon led to additional counts for second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and certain person not to have a weapon, also second degree. The remaining count is for third-degree criminal mischief.
Irizarry-Garcia was convicted of burglary in 2007 and was indicted for attempted burglary in May 2019.
Pamela Kereszi and Gene Laird 
Pamela Kereszi is named in three counts for third-degree possession of a CDS, as well as possession with intent to distribute, also third degree, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, a long pipe with a spiked head. The drugs in question were methamphetamine, clonazepam and Methlemedioxy-N-benzylcathinone.
Gene Laird faces counts for possession with intent to distribute, third degree, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, a pocket knife.
The charges are related to an arrest, in Wildwood Crest, in September 2019.
Brenna N. Gara
Brenna Gara was indicted on two counts of third-degree possession of a CDS, methamphetamine and methylenedioxy-methamphetamine.
Hannah Loper
Hannah Loper, 31, of Villas, faces a second-degree count for aggravated assault, along with a third-degree count for assault by auto. Loper was arrested following an incident, in September, and was also charged with driving while intoxicated.
Paul Moser
Paul Moser, of Ocean City, was indicted on a single count of possession of five or more dosage units of a prescription legend drug, fourth degree.
Robert M. Welch
Robert Welch faces a third-degree shoplifting count for taking property valued at more than $500 from a Lower Township grocery store.
Galan J. Ganzemuller 
Galan Ganzemuller was indicted on two counts of possession of a CDS, third degree. The drugs were methamphetamine and methadone.
Shaquan K. Hatch
Shaquan Hatch, of Millville, faces six counts of third-degree burglary, along with one for third-degree theft. In addition, he is named in two more third-degree counts for conspiracy and employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime. The indictment states that Hatch was a lookout while using juveniles to illegally enter automobiles, in Wildwood, in July.
Harry Kates and Edward Donnelly 
Harry Kates was indicted for third-degree theft by deception, while Edward Donnelly faces a similar charge of third-degree attempted theft by deception. The incident involved theft from a grading and excavating company in Lower Township.
Thomas Smulski, Jr. 
Thomas Smulski, Jr., was indicted for theft by deception, third degree, along with fourth-degree violation of the Contractor Registration Act.
