COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury filed the following indictments Jan. 19:
Brian J. Ayres
On October 27, 2015, Brian Ayres, 28, of Villas, allegedly barricaded himself in a residence with minor children and a weapon. Three hours of negotiations led to a peaceful resolution without harm to the minor children. Ayres was taken to Cape May Regional Medical Center for evaluation following the incident.
A search led police to a pellet gun. The indictment alleges that Ayers pointed the gun at two adults as part of the incident threatening to kill them. It also states that Ayers criminally restrained two minors, 14 and 15 years old.
In all Ayers was indicted for three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, each second degree, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and unlawful possession of a weapon, both also second degree. In addition indictments were issued charging Ayers with two counts of criminal restraint, third degree, terroristic threats, third degree and fourth degree aggravated assault.
Antonio Johnson
Antonio Johnson, 28, of Wildwood, was indicted for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) with intent to distribute, a third-degree offense. Johnson allegedly committed this offense within 500 feet of Wildwood Housing Authority, adding another count to the indictment which is second degree. A fourth degree charge for possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute also was issued.
Corey Pennebaker
Corey Pennebaker, 28, of Cape May, was indicted for an incident that occurred Nov. 12, 2015 in Lower Township. Pennebaker allegedly criminally restrained a female and made terroristic threats. He was indicted for aggravated assault, second degree, along with criminal restraint and terroristic threats, both third degree.
Sharon L. Powers
According to the grand jury indictment, Sharon L. Powers took movable property from a Wildwood convenience store on various dates in October 2015. The thefts amounted to more than $500 bringing an indictment for theft in the third degree. A conviction for a third degree offense can carry a jail sentence of three to five years.
Lamont Eugene Richardson
Lamont Richardson, 65, of Cape May, was indicted for a Dec. 9, 2015 incident in which he allegedly terrorized another individual threatening the individual with a can opener as a weapon. Richardson was indicted for terroristic threats and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, both third degree, and unlawful possession of a weapon, fourth degree.
Daniel E. Nagle
Daniel Nagle was indicted for a theft that occurred in Avalon Oct. 7, 2015. Nagle allegedly illegally took movable property valued at over $500 and a Schedule IV drug, zolpidem, from another individual. Zolpidem is a sedative that is prescribed under a number of brand names including Ambien. Nagle was indicted for two counts of third degree theft and for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, third degree.
Destiny Parker, Shaw’nae Still
Two women from Vineland were indicted with third degree shoplifting and attempted shoplifting. Destiny Parker, 23, and Shaw’nae Still, 19, allegedly stole baby formula from an Upper Township market on two occasions in July and August 2015. On a third attempt at the same market Aug. 9, the women were seen by employees.
A police press release stated that the two successful thefts amounted to over $1,600 worth of infant formula.
Robin Devine, Jose Ruiz
Robin Devine, 43, of Rio Grande, and Jose Ruiz, 38, of Millville, were indicted, Devine for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, third degree.
Ruiz faces a longer list of charges with an indictment alleging third-degree possession, possession with intent to distribute, also third degree, distribution of a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of public property, second degree, and distribution within 1000 feet of a school, third degree. The drug involved was heroin.
Mister J. Germanio, James P Germanio
Mister Germanio, 26, of Belleplain, and James Germanio were indicted on a series of charges related to a Dennis Township assault. Both were indicted for second-degree aggravated assault of a male in the area of Head of the River Road.
Mister Germanio was also indicted for burglary, second degree, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, second degree, criminal restraint, third degree, and aggravated assault, fourth degree.
An earlier conviction in 2010 for aggravated assault also led to an additional count to the indictment for Mister Germanio for certain person, second degree.
The certain person charge is used for individuals who are caught with weapons forbidden by earlier convictions. The weapon in question was a rifle.
The above individuals are only charged with the offenses and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
