Indictments Filed Dec. 3

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 20 indictments Dec. 3.
The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance.
All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Josephine A. Scheid 
Josephine Scheid, 36, of Sarasota, Fla., was indicted for first-degree murder. The indictment states that Scheid gave her 58-year-old mother a lethal overdose of drugs, leading to her death, in 2018, in Dennis Township.
The indictment contains five additional counts. Scheid faces third-degree counts for endangering another person, theft, theft by deception, and hindering apprehension. The final count is obstructing the administration of law in the fourth degree.
Jesus Rodriguez 
Jesus Rodriguez, 45, of Villas, was indicted for resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a police officer. Both counts are in the third degree.
Rachel Miller
Rachel Miller, 31, of Wildwood, faces a count of third-degree theft.
Kevin Powell
Kevin Powell, 44, of Wildwood, was indicted for possession of a CDS, cocaine, along with possession with intent to distribute, and hindering apprehension, each count is in the third degree.
Robert J. Velozo 
Robert Velozo, 33, of Villas, faces two counts of possession of a CDS, oxymetholone and Buprenorphine, each count is in the third degree.
Antonio Richardson 
Antonio Richardson, 26, of Millville, was indicted for fourth-degree resisting arrest.
Thomas W. Lavelle 
Thomas Lavelle, 32, of Philadelphia, was indicted for third-degree possession of a CDS, cocaine, as well as resisting arrest in the fourth degree.
Jasmine G. Langford
According to an indictment, Jasmine Langford resisted arrest and committed aggravated assault Oct. 31 on a Middle Township police officer. Each of the two counts is in the third degree. The indictment also contains two fourth-degree counts for aggravated assault and throwing bodily fluids.
Gary Nelson 
Gary Nelson, of Lower Township, faces a charge of third-degree burglary for illegally entering a motor vehicle in October.
George R. Furey 
George Furey, 34, of Wildwood, faces a three-count indictment for third-degree possession of a CDS, cocaine, along with fourth-degree resisting arrest and hindering apprehension.
Marcus Knight
Marcus Knight, 32, of Villas, was indicted for aggravated assault, second and third degree, stemming from an incident of domestic violence in November.
Trevor L. Hargrove 
Trevor Hargrove was arrested July 4, in Dennis Township, on weapons charges. He faces two second-degree counts for unlawful possession of a weapon, a handgun, along with a fourth-degree count for hollow nose bullets.
Frances C. Schuch 
Frances Schuch was indicted on a single count of possession of a CDS, methamphetamine.
Lisa M. Stone, Robert H. Shelton 
Lisa Stone, 37, of Whitesboro, and Robert Shelton, 36, of Villas, face a four-count indictment, in which both were charged with third-degree possession of a CDS, heroin, and possession with intent to distribute.
A conspiracy count was also in the third degree. Most serious was a second-degree count for possession of a weapon while committing a CDS crime, a .177 caliber pellet gun.
Joseph Steel
Joseph Steel, convicted in 2002 of endangering the welfare of a child, is subject to community supervision for life. He was indicted on three separate fourth-degree counts of violating supervision by possessing a CDS, by failure to complete required counseling, and by failing to report to his assigned parole officer. In July, Steel was also indicted for a similar violation, when he failed to attend counseling.
Karla Susic
Karla Susic, 23, of Wildwood, was indicted for shoplifting merchandise worth more than $500 from a Court House department store.
Stephen C. Stecki
The indictment states that Stephen Stecki applied for a building permit in Avalon after forging the signature on the application. He faces two fourth-degree counts for forgery and uttering a false instrument.
Jacob L. Swagler 
Jacob Swagler, 22, attempted to defraud administration of a drug test, a third-degree felony. He also faces a fourth-degree count for possession of a device used to defraud a drug test.
Michael V. Varollo
A domestic violence incident in Avalon led to Michael Varollo being indicted for third-degree aggravated assault.
