Indictments Filed Dec. 11

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 21 indictments Dec. 11. The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance. 
The individuals listed are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Joemar Soberal
Joemar Soberal, 25, of Wildwood, was indicted for possession of a CDS, heroin, possession with intent to distribute and intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school. 
Each of the three counts was in the third degree. Soberal was arrested when police executed a search warrant on his residence in a Washington Avenue motel in Wildwood, finding 120 bags of heroin inside.
Brittney L. Scheuerman
Brittney Scheuerman, 22, of Villas, was indicted on one count of fourth-degree theft of more than $200 worth of movable property from a restaurant in Rio Grande.
Edgardo Rodriguez
Edgardo Rodriguez, of Wildwood, was indicted for possession of a CDS, cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute.  Both counts are in the third degree.
Candice L. Smith, Joseph R. Norris, Roy H. Meyer, 2nd, Karl Madrack, Samantha A. Baxter, Courtney L. Downey, Steven M. Demyan, Gwendolyn A. Utter, Charles J. Roberts, Robert McMichael, Cory Scheid, Laura C. Mansfield 
Each of the individuals listed was indicted on a count of third-degree possession of a CDS.
Kevin C. McNeil
Kevin McNeil, 23, of Pleasantville, was indicted for theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, and impersonation, each count third degree.
Thomas A. Marchetti
Thomas Marchetti, 51, of Stone Harbor, faces a second degree count of theft by deception. The indictment lists 13 individuals across “various municipalities” who were victimized by Marchetti over a period from January to June 2017, bringing the theft over the $75,000 threshold for a second-degree offense.
Dean A. Lewin
Dean Lewin, 25, of Wildwood, was indicted on a fourth-degree count of giving a false report to a law enforcement officer.
Robert K. Kern
Robert Kern, 34, of Cape May, faces a second-degree burglary count for an illegal entry of a residence on Woolson Road in Lower Township in October.
The indictment states that Kern was armed with a large filet knife. On the same night, another count in the indictment states that Kern illegally entered a residence on Crescent Lane, taking over $200 of property.
He faces two counts of burglary, one second and one third degree, along with third-degree charges for possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.
Two other counts are in the fourth degree for theft and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Anthony DiMatteo
Anthony DiMatteo was indicted for third-degree theft and fourth-degree violation of the Contractor Registration Act. DiMatteo was offering home improvements in Ocean City.
Raymond Bartee
Raymond Bartee faces a second-degree count for eluding Middle Township Police in a motor vehicle, placing all those in the area at risk of injury or death.
Michael P. Murphy
Michael Murphy, of Dennis Township, was indicted for possession of a CDS, marijuana, fourth degree, along with possession with intent to distribute, third degree, and possession of a prohibited weapon, fourth degree. The weapon was a set of metal knuckles.
Hubert J. Reighn, Jaimi Hess
Hubert Reighn, 51, of Millville, and Jaimi Hess, of Rio Grande, were indicted for possession of a CDS, heroin, third degree and fourth-degree hindering apprehension.
Hess faces an additional count of third-degree possession of amphetamine.
Christopher Small, Christopher Verity, Sherrie A. Sutton
Both Christopher Small and Christopher Verity were indicted on first-degree counts of drug-induced death relating to an incident in Upper Township in October.
The indictment states that heroin dispensed by the two caused the death of an individual who used it.
The two men were also charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, third degree.
Verity was also indicted on a third-degree count of endangering an injured individual related to a heroin overdose of a second victim.
Sherrie Sutton was indicted on a count of third-degree hindering apprehension of Small and/or Verity.
