VILLAS – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana announced the Feb. 23 arrest of a township resident for alleged methamphetamine and heroin distribution. 

According to a release, Decarlo Fleming, 49, of Villas, was charged with methamphetamine and heroin distribution.

The arrest was the conclusion of a cooperative investigation between the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and the Lower Township Police Department Detective Division.

Fleming was arrested Feb. 23 during the execution of a court-authorized search warrant at his residence on Greenwood Avenue.

Seized during the investigation were over 100 bags of heroin and over half of an ounce of methamphetamine. The combined street value of the suspected drugs seized was approximately $8,000.

Fleming was charged with distribution of methamphetamine, second degree, possession of methamphetamine, second degree, distribution of heroin, third degree, possession of heroin, third degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly persons offense.

Fleming was processed and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center pending court proceedings.

Sutherland stated that his office will continue to work hand in hand with the local municipalities to target anyone selling illegal controlled dangerous substances.
