High School Evacuated by Bomb Threat

COURT HOUSE — Middle Township High School was evacuated Feb. 20 in the evening after a note was found in a bathroom indicating a bomb was placed in the building.
According to Middle Township Police Capt. John Edwards, the threatening note was found about 5:30 p.m.
At the time, a junior varsity basketball game and play practice was ongoing, and all persons were evacuated as a precaution.
K-9 units from Cape May County Sheriff’s Department, Delaware River and Bay Authority as well as those from Atlantic County were summoned to search the building on the east side of Garden State Parkway.
According to Edwards, at about 8 p.m. the search was concluding, and the investigation into the threat will continue on Feb. 21.
Responding to the situation was Middle Township Police Department, Court House Fire Department, County Prosecutor’s Office, and the county Office of Emergency Management.
No further information was available.
