COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor announces the arrest of Ziyad Walker, 31, a resident of Paterson, N.J., for the distribution of heroin.
This arrest was the result of a cooperative investigation between the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force, the Middle Township and Wildwood police departments’ Street Crimes Units, Lower Township Police Detective Bureau and the New Jersey State Police, Gangs and Organized Crime South Unit.
This six-month long investigation was initiated after information was learned that Walker was transporting large amounts of heroin from Paterson and distributing the heroin throughout Cape May County. On May 31, Walker was arrested and court authorized search warrants were executed in the 100 East block Roberts Avenue, Wildwood and Mimosa Drive, Rio Grande.
Walker was charged with one count of distribution of CDS (controlled dangerous substance), second degree, seven counts of distribution of CDS, third degree, one count of distribution of CDS within 1,000 feet of a school zone, third degree, and one count of possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public place, second degree. Walker was processed and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center pending court proceedings.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a second degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of five to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison and persons convicted of a third degree crime can be sentenced from three to five years. Prosecutor Taylor stated that his office will continue to work hand in hand with the local municipalities and state agencies to target anyone selling illegal controlled dangerous substances.

The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
