By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE – Bernard Green pleaded guilty to first degree aggravated manslaughter Sept. 11, according to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
Bernard “Peanut” Green, 32, of East Pacific Ave. in the Villas section of Lower Township admitted to the shooting and killing of Christopher Turner, 44, on Nov. 19, 2012 at a residence on Ellery Ave. in the Villas.
On Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, the Lower Township Police responded to a shooting at a residence on Ellery Ave. Upon arrival, police found the lifeless body of Turner, of Alexander Ave., in the Villas. A joint investigation by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lower and Middle Township Police Departments identified Bernard Green, who had fled the scene, as the shooter. Green would later surrender to authorities.
The negotiated plea agreement calls for him to receive 24 years in New Jersey State Prison, 85 percent of which will be required to be served before he is eligible for parole. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 31.
