Grand Jury Returns Indictment in Connection with Alleged Theft from Middle Township Dealership

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County Grand Jury handed down a three count indictment charging Monica Schaffer, 53, of Somers Point, with two counts of theft in the second degree, and one count of conspiracy in the second degree, County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor announced Tuesday, Feb. 24.
It is alleged that Schaffer had stolen money from her employment at Avalon Honda in Swainton, over a 3-year period, totaling more than $400,000. She was employed at Avalon Honda as a manager at the time.
A second degree offense carries a potential sentence of up to ten years in the New Jersey State Prison.
Schaffer is also charged with conspiring to commit the thefts with co-defendant Robert Gyeh.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
