COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 15 indictments Aug. 16. The abbreviation CDS is used for controlled dangerous substance.
Joseph Amabile, Brendon Burns, Vincenzo Severia
The late evening armed robbery of two juveniles on a Sea Isle City beach led to the indictment of Joseph Amabile, 20, of West Chester, Pa., Brendon Burns, 19, of Downingtown, Pa. and Vincenzo Severia, 18, of West Chester. All three were indicted for first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery.
Burns, who allegedly possessed a Glock model 26 handgun which he attempted to discard while fleeing police, was charged with additional counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, both second degree, resisting arrest, hindering apprehension and receiving stolen property, each third degree.
The Glock was stolen in a Pennsylvania robbery days before.
Severia was included on additional counts of possession a weapon for unlawful purposes, third degree, and having a prohibited weapon, a stun gun, fourth degree. He also was indicted for two counts of resisting arrest, one third, and one fourth degree.
Eric Garnett
Eric Garnett, 30, of Wildwood Crest, was indicted on four separate counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Three of those counts are second-degree offenses, and one is third degree. They all deal with alleged possession and distribution of child pornography.
Responding to a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, officers from the Wildwood Crest Police Department and the County Prosecutor’s Office executed a search warrant on Garnett’s residence. According to a press release, “multiple files of suspected child pornography were found.”
Christopher Wells
Christopher Wells, 33, of Bayville, was indicted on two counts of shoplifting, one third, and one fourth degree. A social media post led to information allegedly implicating Wells as the individual who took over $500 of shrimp from a Marmora food market to resell the merchandise at a discount price.
Ulysses Rodriquez Jr.
Ulysses Rodriquez Jr., 21, of Woodbine, was indicted for fourth-degree aggravated assault stemming from an April one-car crash of a vehicle allegedly driven by Rodriquez while intoxicated. The assault charge was added to the DWI arrest due to injuries to a passenger in the car.
John Pfaeffli Sr.
John Pfaeffli Sr., 65, of Rio Grande, was indicted on fourth-degree counts of obscenity and stalking. On various dates from March through June, Pfaeffli allegedly “repeatedly followed” a woman. Contacting her by phone and leaving messages that were allegedly “sexually disturbing in nature.”
Wade Gilbert Jr. and Charles Padilla
An attempt to escape police after refusing to pull over when signaled led Wade Gilbert, 20, of Court House, and Charles Padilla to be indicted for second-degree eluding police. The indictment alleges that the men “created a risk of death or serious injury” with their vehicle.
Alissa A. Cunningham, Timothy Smith
On July 5 in Ocean City, Timothy Smith, 32, of Egg Harbor, and Alissa Cunningham, 29, of Ocean City, resisted arrest by uniformed police officers. Smith was indicted for aggravated assault and resisting arrest, each third degree, and Cunningham was charged with possession of a CDS, heroin, third degree.
Edward Haye
Edward Haye, 35, of Tuckerton, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Middle Township May 27. An accident resulted in injury to another person leading to the indictment for fourth-degree aggravated assault and third-degree endangering an injured victim. Haye allegedly left the scene leaving the victim unattended.
Valerie Davis, Dominic Catarcio
Valerie Davis, 32, of Villas, and Dominic Catarcio, 48, of Court House, were indicted for possession of a CDS, diazepam. Davis received an additional count of possession with intent to distribute. Catarcio was charged with distribution of a CDS. All counts were third degree.
Jason Marsella
A March motor vehicle stop in Dennis Township led to the indictment of Jason Marsella, 39, of Sewell, for possession of a CDS, heroin, third degree.
The above individuals are only charged with the offenses and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
