GOSHEN– Funeral services for 37-year-old, Dougles J. Wnek have been released.
Wnek was fatally shot on Sunday by members of the Cape May County Regional SWAT team after Wnek allegedly threatened police with firearms and failed to comply with orders to drop his weapons during a standoff at his William Street residence.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Attorney General’s Shooting Response Team.
According to Wnek’s obituary he was the assistant superintendent at the Sand Barrens Golf Course in Swainton.
He is survived by: Wife Amber (nee Pitts); two Children: Joshua and Autumn; Father and Mother in Law: Robert and Penny Pitts; Father and Mother: James and Linda Wnek; Brother Ken and Sister Deb.
Wnek’s wife Amber posted a message on his Facebook wall Monday night calling the incident “a tragic accident”. She also said, “my husband was a wonderful man and an awesome father that left us way too soon.”
Burial will be at 11am Friday Oct. 8, 2010 at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 106 Mechanic St., Cape May Court House where friends may call from 10am in the church. Interment is private.
